City of Otočac among the first smart cities in Croatia through collaboration with Combis and HT

Combis and Hrvatski Telekom have successfully implemented the Otočac City App for smart city management in the City of Otočac. Through the innovative OneCity App platform, residents of this Lika town can now track and pay bills, monitor important information, and communicate with city services via the app.

The City of Otočac is one of the first cities in the Republic of Croatia to introduce a modern and user-friendly application, Smart City App, with the majority financial support from the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund (FZOEU).

– We have established the digital platform City App Otočac, which will enable citizens to easily access city services such as viewing and paying bills, reporting municipal irregularities, and sending digital requests for the realization of services provided by city services. These services, as well as the publication of important service information intended for citizens and tourists, will enable higher quality and more transparent communication and more efficient resolution of citizens’ requests in order to increase citizen satisfaction. The application will serve as a foundation for further development and digitalization of city services – stated the Mayor of Otočac Goran Bukovac at a recent event marking the launch of the application, which guarantees clear benefits for citizens and cities of all sizes.

– At Combis, we have been dedicated to the development of Smart City solutions for several years, and in collaboration with Hrvatski Telekom, the digitalization of cities has taken on a new dimension, and we are very pleased that more and more cities are opting for such an important step towards their citizens. I would like to emphasize that all our technological solutions are accompanied by a focus on cybersecurity as one of the key challenges faced by cities in digital transformation. The new EU NIS2 Directive on the security of network and information systems sets high standards for the protection of critical infrastructure, obliging public companies responsible for energy, water supply, drainage and sewage, as well as those for waste management or traffic regulation, to adapt. In collaboration with Hrvatski Telekom, we are already implementing solutions that help city services comply with this directive and enhance resilience to cyber threats – emphasized Goran Car, CEO of Combis.

Digitalization is an essential step in building modern urban environments, and the OneCity application is just one of a series of smart solutions that Combis and Hrvatski Telekom offer to cities to manage resources more effectively, reduce operational costs, and increase citizen safety.

“The City of Otočac application will benefit all age groups equally as it offers a simple, understandable, and comprehensive insight into all obligations and rights. Older generations of citizens, who may find it somewhat challenging to use new technologies, will have the opportunity to master digital skills, while younger individuals, who usually take care of bill payments and communication with services, will have a quick and efficient tool for managing their daily obligations, regardless of where they are at any given moment,” stated the Mayor of Otočac, Goran Bukovac.
