Employment mediation is currently one of the most lucrative activities, but the example of Čakovec’s ADVIRA reveals another side of the coin. The company recently managed to negotiate a pre-bankruptcy settlement in which unsecured creditors write off 70 percent of 156 thousand euros in claims, while the Tax Administration writes off 40 percent of 277 thousand euros in tax debts. The agreement states that due to the irresponsibility of one of the business partners, a large number of assigned workers were left without jobs, and the company was forced to pay salaries and cover accommodation costs for them. The agreement does not specify which client is involved or how many workers, only that this occurred in the winter of 2021 – 2022. This was too much for an agency that was already operating on the edge – it had previously been in account blockages on two occasions and once on the list of tax debtors.
