DZS: Growth of Employment in Crafts and Freelance Professions

In crafts and freelance professions in Croatia, there were 228,133 employed at the end of June, which is an increase of 4.2 percent or 9,117 more than at the end of May, according to data from the Croatian Bureau of Statistics (DZS). In crafts, there were 210,079 employed, while in freelance professions, there were 18,054. The increase in the number of employed was achieved in 15 areas of activity, ranging from 0.2 percent in construction to 16.2 percent in accommodation and food service activities.

The number of employed decreased in three areas of activity – ranging from 0.3 percent in health care and social assistance to 12.7 percent in mining and quarrying. In the water supply; sewage removal, waste management, and environmental remediation activities, the number of employed remained at May levels.

By counties, the increase in the number of employed was achieved in 17 counties, ranging from 0.1 percent in Virovitica-Podravina County to 11.4 percent in Lika-Senj County.

In three counties, the number of employed decreased, ranging from 0.1 percent in Sisak-Moslavina and Varaždin counties to 0.6 percent in Koprivnica-Križevci County. In Zagreb County, the number of employed remained at May levels, according to DZS data.
