The anticipated interview of billionaire Elon Musk with Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on Musk’s media platform X was delayed by more than 40 minutes due to technical issues, which Musk attributed to a ‘cyberattack’.
The interview was scheduled for 2 AM Croatian time, or 8 PM Eastern Time in the USA, but after just over 100,000 users logged in, technical problems arose that caused the delay.
– It seems to be a massive DDOS attack on X. We are working to shut it down. In the worst case, we will start with a smaller number of live listeners and then broadcast an unedited recording immediately after – Musk announced during the troubleshooting, adding that during preparations, his platform could support about eight million simultaneous logins.
When the interview finally began, the counter on X showed 1.3 million logins, and the former president occasionally sounded muffled, prompting some listeners to comment that he sounded like a cartoon character, while others suggested it might be due to sound compression.
Musk, the richest person in the world, who supported the current president, Democrat Joe Biden, before the 2020 election, has since switched to Trump’s camp and dedicated the introductory part of the ‘conversation’ to praising Trump’s ‘courage’ during the assassination attempt on him on July 13 in Butler, Pennsylvania, when a bullet hit him in the ear. Trump responded that he intends to return to Butler for a campaign rally in the final stretch of the campaign in October.
