The value of Croatian goods exports in the first six months of this year amounted to 11.5 billion euros, which is 0.3 percent less than in the same period last year, while imports rose by 4.2 percent to 21.1 billion euros, according to the first data from the Croatian Bureau of Statistics (DZS) published on Friday.
The foreign trade deficit amounted to 9.6 billion euros, and the coverage of imports by exports was 54.4 percent. In the first six months of last year, coverage was 56.9 percent.
According to the first data from the DZS, goods worth 7.6 billion euros were exported to EU member states in the first six months of this year, which is 3.9 percent less than in the same period last year. The value of imported goods from EU member states rose by 8.2 percent to 16.6 billion euros.
Statistics for exports to non-EU countries show a growth of 7.6 percent to 3.8 billion euros, alongside a simultaneous decline in goods imports by 8.2 percent to 4.5 billion euros.
The DZS also published other corrected data on commodity exchange for the first five months of this year, which show that exports compared to the same period in 2023 remained at the same level of 9.6 billion euros, while imports rose by 5.4 percent to 17.6 billion euros.
According to revised data, the foreign trade deficit in the first five months of this year amounted to eight billion euros, and the coverage of imports by exports was 54.4 percent.
