Members of Mepas Group – Saponia, Koestlin, and Kandit, continue to grow in the first half of this year, recording an increase in revenue compared to the same period last year, despite challenges in the raw materials market and significant cost increases, Mepas Group reported on Friday.

The detergent and toilet industry Saponia achieved a growth of 27.5 percent in the first six months compared to the same period last year, with total revenues of 63.1 million euros.

– Such revenue growth for Saponia further confirms our leading position in the industry and encourages us to continue investing in production modernization, human resources, research and development, and the development of product ranges that will ensure long-term and stable growth and the implementation of ambitious business plans in the region – said Ivan Grbešić, CEO of Mepas Group.

Revenue growth was also achieved by confectionery companies Koestlin and Kandit – Koestlin recorded a business revenue increase of five percent, to 13.25 million euros, while Kandit’s business revenues rose by 3.2 percent, to 18.79 million euros.

Although satisfied with the Group’s business results, Grbešić noted that Kandit ended the first half of the year with a loss of 2.05 million euros, a result of a 15.7 percent increase in business expenses caused by rising raw material prices.

– The price of raw materials is six times higher than last year, but with measures to increase business efficiency, we believe we can achieve positive business results by the end of the year and that our customers will continue to enjoy their favorite products – he emphasized.

He also mentioned that the focus on operational efficiency, innovation, and sustainable growth has enabled Mepas Group to cope with challenges and seize opportunities. Grbešić highlights that Mepas Group has, on average, increased employee salaries by 29 percent.

He announced further investments, including the relocation of Saponija’s operations to Nemetin and the completion of a 1.6 megawatt photovoltaic power plant, which will contribute to reducing business costs and increasing revenues.
