Darko Markotić is the new member of the Management Board of the Meat Industry Braća Pivac

The Pivac Group has appointed Darko Markotić as the new member of the Management Board of the Meat Industry Braća Pivac. Markotić, who will assume his duties in the third quarter, comes from the position of production director at the Meat Industry Braća Pivac, where he led the production segment and related investments in Ravča, Čakovec, Karlovac, and Ljubuški, worth over 60 million euros. Markotić completed his university education at the Faculty of Food Technology and Biotechnology and has been working at the Meat Industry Braća Pivac for 20 years. He is the president of the Croatian Prosciutto Cluster and was also a member of the working group for the protection process of Dalmatian pancetta at the EU level, specifically for the registration of its geographical indication in a specialized register.

Miljenko Pivac, the current member of the Management Board of the Meat Industry Braća Pivac, will step down from management functions within MI Braća Pivac and related companies as of August 1, 2024, and will continue his engagement in the Pivac Group as a management advisor, primarily focusing on the internationalization of business and further development of the Group’s investment portfolio, considering that this year the Group acquired ownership of the Slovenian Celjske mesnine, and an investment in a processing and production facility for meat products in Bosnia and Herzegovina is in the realization phase.

Lider has previously reported on Pivac’s acquisition of Celjske mesnine. It is worth noting that after the death of Ivica Pivac, the Vrgorac company passed into the hands of his heirs, brother Neven and nephew Miljenko Pivac, who were also members of the Management Board.

The Pivac Group is one of the largest meat industries in this part of Europe, encompassing three meat processing companies: PPK Karlovac Meat Industry, Vajda Meat Industry, and Meat Industry Braća Pivac. The facilities for the production of fresh meat and meat products are located in Karlovac, Čakovec, and Vrgorac, and the Group is most often recognized as a producer of prosciutto. In recent years, among other things, it has also become the majority owner of Kraša and an important owner of Podravka, ranking among the largest Croatian food groups.
