Končar Electric Vehicles signed a contract on July 23, 2024, with HŽ Passenger Transport for the purchase of six electro-diesel multiple units (EDMV DP) that will replace the tilting trains operating between Split and Zagreb since 2004. The contract is valued at 57.3 million euros.
The signed contract is a continuation of Končar’s successful activities in the domestic market for the customer HŽ Passenger Transport. The EDMV DP and its important subsystems are the result of in-house development involving several companies from the Končar Group, confirming once again that this domestic company can compete with global manufacturers of rail vehicles. The train is a hybrid design, powered from the contact network on electrified tracks, and uses two diesel engines with a total power exceeding 1.2 MW on non-electrified tracks.
With the delivery of new vehicles, Končar continues the trend of developing products and solutions that reduce harmful climate impacts, offer long-term product sustainability, and focus on future-oriented digitalization.
– By continuously improving technologies in the field of mobility, we contribute to one of the most important goals of the European Union – establishing green and sustainable transport – the company stated.
