Is there anything more beautiful than a child’s smile?

The Pula office of IN2 Group knows very well that helping others is one of the noblest activities. It fills the helper with joy and makes everyday life more beautiful.

Six employees of IN2 Group from the Health and Public Administration Sector, in collaboration with the Volunteer Center Istria, joined the initiative “Storytelling Aunts and Uncles” and, after completing the course and receiving their certificates, became regular guests in the pediatrics department of the general hospital in Pula, where they read exciting stories to young patients and, at least for a moment, take them in their minds from hospital beds to a world of imagination and joy. The smile they receive after a story is the most beautiful reward for their efforts.

In six months of volunteering, IN2 employees have accumulated 60 volunteer hours and many beautiful memories that will accompany them forever. To find out how they experienced it and why they decided to join other “Storytelling Aunts and Uncles,” hear it firsthand:

– We joined the Storytelling Aunts and Uncles project, among other reasons, because all the hospitals where we volunteer or will volunteer use our Hospital Information System, so we are frequent guests in hospitals and know firsthand that this project is commendable and will bring joy to many children. Although I am a frequent visitor to hospitals due to the nature of my work in maintaining and implementing new IT technologies, this was my first time in a hospital for the patients and I spent time with them. The children welcomed us wonderfully; we read picture books, literature, comics, everything that was interesting to them. Their smiles brought us the most joy, and I must admit that the time spent reading stories with the children was much more valuable and beautiful than the free time I spend reading alone. I would recommend everyone to get involved and brighten the gray hospital days for the little ones – said Andrea Rađenović Petrinović from the Pula office of IN2 Group.

– I know how boring it is for children to spend an entire day locked in a hospital room, especially in the evening when everything quiets down. My son has been in the same situation twice, so I wanted to contribute to entertaining children in a similar situation, to cheer them up, entertain them, and help their hospital days pass as quickly and carefree as possible – emphasized Vedran Adamec from the Pula office of IN2 Group.

IN2 Group’s desire is for this commendable concept from Pula to expand to other hospitals in Croatia so that more employees of IN2 Group can join in telling stories to children in hospitals.

In the fall, the project will continue in Pula and Rijeka and other Croatian cities where employees of IN2 Group, after obtaining their certificates, will join aunts, uncles, and storytelling uncles, all for the sake of the priceless children’s smile.
