The same number of cruise ships sailed through the Croatian Adriatic in the first five months of this year as last year, but they made more trips, and there were more passengers on them, according to data from the Croatian Bureau of Statistics (DZS).
There were 40 cruise ships during this period, but they made 14.3 percent more round trips (144), with 28 percent more passengers (208 thousand).
DZS data shows that in every month from the beginning of 2024 to the end of May, there were more round trips by foreign ships in the Adriatic, except in April when they were the same as in April last year.
Foreign cruise ships arrived in the Croatian Adriatic in the first five months under the flags of nine countries. The most trips were made by ships under the flag of Malta, 45 or 31 percent of the total number.
Following were cruise ships under the flags of the Bahamas, Panama, and Norway.
Almost 60 percent of the trips were realized in the Dubrovnik-Neretva and Split-Dalmatia counties.
The most visited port was Dubrovnik with 92 visits from foreign cruise ships. Following were Split, Zadar, Korčula, Šibenik, Hvar, and Rovinj.
