The national competition, which brings together talented high school students from across Croatia, aims to promote financial literacy among young people and promote economic education. The organization of the Croatian Economics Olympiad, the largest such competition for high school students in Croatia, has been managed for the third consecutive year by the Center for Youth Development (CERM), which holds the IEO license, i.e., International Economics Olympiad.

– Congratulations to this year’s winners and thanks for the significant effort over the past months. We are grateful to a large number of schools, as many as 18 from across Croatia that participated this year. This is, as the organizer, a great incentive for organizing the Croatian Economics Olympiad in 2025, which will be held in a different format than before, all with the aim of providing the best possible experience for students across Croatia and better preparing our national team that will represent us at the international competition – said Nikola Jelovečki, president of the Center for Youth Development.

The winners await an international competition at the end of July

The winning team “EIUSOS” will participate this year in the International Economics Olympiad from July 22 to July 31. Competitors will showcase their skills in three categories. The first part is dedicated to financial literacy and includes a set of 25 multiple-choice questions focused on various areas of financial literacy. The second part, economics, represents a mix of open questions with multiple answers about the theory and practice of economics. The third part, the business case, includes a presentation of the case solution before a panel of judges in English.

The International Economics Olympiad is an annual competition for high school students from around the world in the fields of economics and finance. This initiative is also supported by Eric Maskin, the Nobel Prize winner in Economics in 2007. The goal of the IEO is to improve education in economics and financial literacy in high schools around the world and ensure a high level of international competitions. Additionally, it promotes friendly relations, international cooperation, and competitive spirit among young people.

Good luck to the School of Economics and Business in Osijek at the International Economics Olympiad! We believe they will represent our country with dignity and showcase their knowledge, and we hope for the best possible placement for Croatia!
