The pro-Russian hacker group NoName057(16) has claimed responsibility for the cyber attack on the websites of several Croatian institutions, according to a post on their English-language Telegram channel.

“It has been a while since we were in Croatia, and we decided to remind ourselves,” the post states on the group’s English page on the Telegram channel, equipped with screenshots of the downed pages of the Tax Administration and the Croatian National Bank, which display a notice that the pages are unavailable. The post is from Wednesday.

The group also publishes its intrusions on its account on the X platform, but there is no mention of the intrusion into Croatian institutions there.

According to data on two social platforms, the group has taken down a number of pages in Ukraine, Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Bulgaria, and Romania in recent days, in addition to Croatia.

According to organizations that monitor cyber attacks, NoName057(16) is a pro-Russian hacker group that first appeared in March 2022 and has since claimed to attack the websites of state institutions, media, and private companies in Ukraine, Europe, and the USA.

In Croatia, KBC Zagreb and several websites of Croatian institutions, including the Ministry of Finance, the Tax Administration, the Croatian National Bank, and the Zagreb Stock Exchange, were victims of cyber attacks on Wednesday and Thursday.
