Punat on Krk has Three Smart Parking Lots Since May

In the Municipality of Punat on Krk, three smart parking lots were opened at the end of May in Velim Vode and Pod Topol, with a total of 134 parking spaces. During the peak tourist season, the new service in the center of Punat significantly speeds up and facilitates the search for available parking spaces for both residents and tourists, reducing congestion. The summer months in tourist destinations on the Adriatic are always a special challenge, and smart parking solutions greatly help alleviate traffic and save time and nerves in searching for free spots.

The smart parking service was developed by A1 Croatia and introduced in collaboration with the Municipality of Punat, and with the help of the A1 Smart Parking mobile application, vehicle owners can quickly and easily access information about available parking spaces, directions to them, and save the location of their parked vehicle on their smartphones.

No More Driving in Circles

The new service covers 58 percent of parking spaces, and Daniel Strčić, the mayor of the Municipality of Punat, expects that the smart parking service will significantly improve traffic flow. Siniša Staničić, director of the ICT sales and solutions department at A1 Croatia, emphasized that the smart parking system will reduce the stress of driving in circles to find a free spot and provide the Municipality with an advanced tool for more efficient traffic management. The parking system is managed through an administrative interface, which can be accessed anytime from anywhere using a web browser. The project was realized with the support of the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund through funding for the development of smart and sustainable traffic solutions.

– Such smart solutions are a step forward towards a digitally connected and technologically advanced society of the future that makes everyday life easier for citizens with the help of technology – emphasized Staničić.

For All Weather Conditions

In addition to the installation and configuration of the smart parking solution, A1 Croatia also provides equipment resistant to all weather conditions. A special advantage of the system is that it is installed under the parking lot, allowing unobstructed passage for street cleaning machines or snow plows. The system reports the occupancy status of parking spaces, i.e., vehicles in unmarked zones, and signs with notifications direct users to free spots.

The solution supports mobile applications for Android and iOS and easily connects with other systems via API (application programming interface). System upgrades and security mechanisms occur automatically, and advanced analytics, detailed reports, and usage trend displays are provided daily, weekly, or monthly.

A Series of Smart Solutions

Smart parking is just one of a series of smart solutions offered by A1 Croatia. Other solutions include smart waste disposal containers, advanced sensors for air quality readings, and smart meters for gas consumption. All these solutions enable automation of tasks with regular reporting on their status, offering ease of use for the end user, as well as access to numerous useful information for companies maintaining the system’s operation.
