The eyes of the Croatian nation have been focused on Germany in recent days. How could they not be when the most important secondary thing in the world is the reason for the heated atmosphere across Europe?! Despite almost tropical temperatures and the tradition of Germans coming to us in June, the Croatian product was presented to “them”. Grown on the red-and-white checkered chest of mother and in the land of ancestors, it showed superiority in the northern hemisphere. After a blind tasting by a professional judging panel, organized to ensure impartiality and high standards in evaluation, the Istrian extra virgin olive oil Torač Superior won a gold medal at the prestigious Berlin Global Olive Oil Awards – Northern Hemisphere (Berlin GOOA 2024)! The competition gathered over 700 samples of olive oil from 22 countries.
However, Torač Superior – buža puntoža shone not only in the host country of this year’s European Football Championship. This oil was crowned in the land of kings and footballers, the Premier League! At the London International Olive Oil Competitions (LIOOC 2024), Torač Superior was awarded a gold medal, its second medal! At the same competition, the Poreč Torač d.o.o. of the Milotić family was also awarded gold for its leccino oil.
– Superior monosort oil consists of the first fruits of the indigenous buža puntoža olives processed at the very beginning of processing. Our oil is an elixir obtained from a limited number of olives. It is characterized by intense green fruitiness with an aromatic profile of tomatoes and artichokes, along with harmonious spiciness and bitterness. It is an excellent addition to salads, grilled vegetables, young cheeses, and white fish. The monosort extra virgin olive oil of the leccino variety is harmonious and medium green in fruitiness, with a mild note of bitterness and spiciness. In aroma and taste, you will sense notes of grass, olive leaf, almonds, apple, green banana, and arugula. This oil pairs ideally with light salads, white meat dishes, and fish specialties. Although the tradition of olive growing spans six family generations – from my great-grandfather Vincenzo to my father Ivica and now me, these are the first gold medals for our oils, making the taste of success even sweeter – said young Vinko Milotić.
