Employers Who Survey Employee Satisfaction Have 60 Percent Lower Turnover

In the last five years, the number of organizations regularly conducting engagement surveys has increased. Therefore, SELECTIO Group, which has conducted over 20,000 evaluations of HR systems, analyzed how companies in Croatia conduct employee satisfaction surveys and the impact such research has on increasing satisfaction and reducing turnover.

Gallup’s research has shown that teams with high employee engagement will record 21 percent higher profitability and 17 percent higher productivity compared to teams with low engagement. Additionally, organizations that care about employee engagement and work on improving the work atmosphere have a 59 percent lower turnover. It is also interesting that employers who systematically conduct engagement surveys have noticed that they can more easily motivate employees and encourage them to freely express ideas, opinions, and suggestions.

– Employees who feel valued and engaged in their workplace are very likely to be more motivated and productive. Therefore, it is optimal to conduct a large and comprehensive survey once a year, with shorter pulse check surveys in between. Only when an organization discovers what motivates employees and what makes them dissatisfied can it make informed decisions about introducing new procedures and changes, emphasized Erna Tomiša, Senior Consultant for People and Culture at SELECTIO Group, the leading HR consulting group in Croatia.

Retention is cheaper than new hiring

Regularly surveying employee satisfaction and engagement has a significant impact on achieving business results. Replacing one employee costs approximately 20 percent of their annual salary. Since constant turnover is not financially sustainable in the long term, it is crucial for employers to ensure favorable conditions that will motivate satisfied employees. Employers can reduce hiring and training costs by regularly conducting satisfaction surveys and implementing desirable HR practices.

When organizations conduct surveys only once, they deprive themselves of the opportunity to improve the climate and engagement, to increase productivity, and to retain skilled personnel. In addition to regularly conducting surveys, it is also crucial for managers to actively participate in the survey and consider the honesty of employees. Their role should be to take responsibility for applying the survey results and implementing action plans.
