– Business does not have the privilege to wait and observe what is happening with new technologies, including artificial intelligence, but must anticipate all the advantages and disadvantages of AI, while also considering ethical guidelines, the EU Act on AI, and important issues of intellectual property and copyright for which battles will still be fought, said Bojana Božanić Ivanović, director of Lider, in the introductory part of Lider’s G.R.I.D. forum held today at the Garden Inn Hotel in Zagreb.
She noted that this is not a conference where the loss of jobs for people will be discussed, although that topic may come up, but this is a meeting where challenges and advantages of technologies that the business sector can utilize are discussed.
Božanić Ivanović concluded her speech with an inspiring thought from Joanna Maciejewska, an author and lover of sci-fi and video games, who recently concluded on X that the whole picture with the development of AI is going in the wrong direction.
– To paraphrase her, she said she wants AI to take care of laundry and dishes so she can focus on art and writing, rather than AI doing all those lovely things that make people happy so that we all have more time for household chores. I think everyone present could quickly agree that this is a world we would love to live and work in, believes Božanić.

That it is important to consider both the advantages and risks of artificial intelligence development was also stated by Holger Haibach, director of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation for Croatia and Slovenia, a partner of the conference, noting that AI ‘is not inherently good or bad’. He also reflected on the direction in which artificial intelligence could develop after the super elections in 2024.
– This is the year when almost 50 percent of the world’s population will vote for new leaders. That is an impressive number. Policymakers set the frameworks, and whatever they decide will affect what will happen with artificial intelligence in the future, said Haibach.

In the continuation of the G.R.I.D. forum program, numerous interesting speakers and panelists will discuss what the EU Act on artificial intelligence brings, the roles of generative artificial intelligence, and what AI transformation brings to companies.
