The global semiconductor market is expected to grow by 10 percent this year, estimates Taiwanese TSMC, the leading supplier to American tech giants Apple and Nvidia. In April, TSMC lowered its revenue growth forecast from over 10 percent to around 10 percent.

The specialized publication World Semiconductor Trade Statistics estimates that the semiconductor market will grow by 13.1 percent this year.

TSMC has estimated that sales in the second quarter could increase by as much as 30 percent on the wave of demand for semiconductors used in artificial intelligence (AI) applications.

– We are living in a new golden age of opportunities offered by artificial intelligence – said senior vice president Cliff Hou at an event in Hsinchu, where the Taiwanese company is headquartered.

American giant Nvidia estimates that its revenue in the current quarter will grow stronger than expected. In the quarter ending April 28, the first quarter of the 2024/2025 business year, it was nearly four times higher than in the same period of 2023/2024, jumping to $26 billion.

– A new industrial revolution has begun – companies and countries are collaborating with Nvidia and transferring trillions of dollars worth of traditional data centers to accelerated computing, building a new type of data centers – factories of artificial intelligence – said the CEO of the American company Jensen Huang.
