The Chinese Ministry of Commerce announced on Monday that it will ban certain American companies from import and export activities related to China, including the sale of weapons to Taiwan, and prohibit them from making new investments in China.

The ministry has placed General Atomics Aeronautical Systems on its list of unreliable entities because the company sold weapons to Taiwan, the statement said. General Dynamics Land Systems is also included.

According to state media, Boeing Defense, Space & Security is also on the undesirable list.

Senior executives of all three companies are banned from entering China, and their work permits will be revoked, as will their visitor and residence status, and related applications they submit will not be approved, the ministry’s statement, reported by the state news agency Xinhua, said.

China has also launched an anti-dumping investigation against certain chemical manufacturers from the European Union, the United States, Japan, and Taiwan, the Ministry of Commerce announced on Sunday.

The chemicals in question are ‘copolymerized paraformaldehyde’, which can ‘partially replace copper, zinc, tin, lead, and other metal materials’, and are used in automotive parts, electrical devices, and industrial machinery.

Experts view the Chinese government’s measures as a reaction to recent developments in the trade dispute with the West. Among other things, last week, U.S. President Joe Biden imposed special 100 percent tariffs on imports of electric vehicles from China.
