The King Cross center in Zagreb’s Jankomir began a complete reconstruction in April, during which the center will be fully renovated and expanded by an additional 5,000 square meters through seven construction phases. The completion of the work is expected by autumn 2025, and during the reconstruction, shopping will be uninterrupted as all stores will operate according to regular working hours and parking will be provided. The owner and manager of King Cross, SES Spar European Shopping Centers, plans to invest 40 million euros in the construction of a significantly larger and most modern shopping center. Through this major reconstruction and construction project, the attractiveness of the location will be strengthened and greater sustainability of the center will be achieved.

Modernized and new parts of King Cross will offer numerous attractive amenities for all generations. Three different children’s play and entertainment zones and a unique gastro zone with numerous catering facilities are just part of the offer that will attract visitors to Jankomir upon completion of the investment.

– Creating vibrant spaces requires fundamental changes, which is why we decided on a comprehensive reconstruction that will transform this center into a modern shopping destination – states Christoph Andexlinger, CEO of SES.

SES wants King Cross to become more than just a shopping location, so the focus will be on entertainment and leisure zones. Existing retail spaces will be adapted along with the creation of adventure zones and playgrounds, while breaking the concept of a typical ring shopping center will create more space for a pleasant atmosphere, a new center square, including the construction of a new central part with a rich gastro zone of special ambiance.

– King Cross is located in an attractive position at the western entrance to the city and upon completion of the reconstruction and the construction of an additional 5,000 square meters, it will offer even more interesting content in a new pulsating space – emphasizes Zoran Karamatić, SES country manager for Croatia, highlighting that the center will stand out with its attractive gastro offer.

Regarding stores, the center will, along with existing tenants such as Interspar, Decathlon, Harvey Norman, and dm, who will also shine in a new guise, acquire new brands from well-known national and international partners, thereby expanding the existing offer in the wider Zagreb area. The existing parking lot will also be completely renovated, and thanks to new traffic solutions, it will be more accessible and dimensioned and designed to meet the most modern standards.
