Dalekovod has secured new contracts, but this time far from Dalekovod – in Slovenia and Albania, with a total value of 27.5 million euros. Thus, alongside recently acquired contracts in Norway and Sweden, Dalekovod continues to strengthen its position in the region.
In Slovenia, a contract worth 14.5 million euros was signed between Dalekovod Ljubljana (a member of the Dalekovod group) and Eles, the Slovenian transmission system operator, for the construction of two 110 kV power lines Hudo – Kočevje. There is already an old power line that will be demolished (as part of the overall project) and a new one will be built, measuring 31.2 kilometers and consisting of 111 dual-system power line poles. The start of construction is planned for June this year, with completion expected in January 2026. Most of the work will be carried out near existing live lines, which requires precise planning and coordination to ensure the uninterrupted operation of the existing power transmission system.
In Albania, a contract worth 13 million euros was signed in a consortium with the construction company 4A-M SHPK with the OSHEE Group, the operator of the distribution system in Albania. This involves the construction of a new 110/20 kV transformer station belonging to the distribution network in the Kamza area (near Tirana), which has experienced significant urban and economic development. This project will last two years, funded by the German development bank KfW, and through the modernization of the power grid, the Albanian government aims to provide additional impetus for further progress in the area. Although this is not new for Dalekovod’s operations, the announced consortium is part of a new business model that Board member Tvrtko Zlopaša spoke about in Lider at the beginning of the year, in line with the dynamics of market changes. ‘Until now, we have mainly realized most projects with our own resources, and to a lesser extent using subcontractors, but with numerous new projects planned almost simultaneously in different markets, we plan to additionally engage stronger capacities of partners and subcontractors alongside all our capacities to ensure everything is completed on time and to the required quality,’ Zlopaša said at that time. Regarding the latest contracts in Slovenia and Albania, he stated: ‘The signing of these contracts represents confirmation of our strategic orientation towards continuously strengthening our position in all markets – domestic, neighboring, and European. Dalekovod has been a safe, reliable, and highly qualified partner in the development of quality power infrastructure for 75 years, and we are particularly proud that through these projects we will contribute to the stability and security of the power grid in the region.’
