The Greencajt festival, the largest regional sustainable festival, will be held from May 22 to 24 at Pavilion 13 of the Zagreb Fair, and the organizers have announced numerous surprises. The festival program features inspiring lectures and panels covering various innovative topics such as the development of sustainable digital applications, AI technology as a means of influencing climate change, the future of the planet and how we (do not) care for the environment, the financial sector as a generator of necessary resources – money, sustainable tourism, business as a key driver of new trends, and more.
Among the most notable figures at this year’s Greencajt is Ben Fogle powered by HTZ, a television journalist, publicist, and adventurer, who will join a panel with local speakers on the topic of the future of tourism and the development of Croatia as a hit destination after his lecture. The Danish attraction, the island of Samsø, which until recently was not even on the map of energy innovations, has become a global pioneer in the use of renewable energy sources, driven by the visionary force of Søren Hermansen, who will deliver a lecture titled A Little Piece of Island that changes the Game for the Planet powered by E.ON. This visionary will also join the panel SHIFT HAPPENS: Power – up green energy with local experts who will discuss the role of local and global companies in the energy transition. In addition to this topic, Connie Hedegaard, a prominent Danish politician, former Minister of the Environment, Climate and Energy, and EU Commissioner, will give a lecture titled Learning from Denmark: How to become the most sustainable country in the world? Scandinavian experiences will be revealed in an interesting panel Vision of the Future from Sweden: how to achieve zero emissions.
Among the well-known figures, the editor of the show What’s up folks!, Goran Milić, an award-winning Croatian journalist, will bring visitors closer to different cultures and peoples, presenting a view of the world in a completely new way.
Marc Buckley, UN Advisor, author of the Manifesto on Sustainable Development Goals, and futurist, will join the panel We don’t have a crystal ball, but we have a vision after his lecture, where experts will share their visions for the future, exploring how they perceive the challenges ahead. Dr. Lučka Kajfež Bogataj, Nobel Peace Prize laureate and leading Slovenian expert on climate change, will speak on the topic How to (survive) on a planet that is not growing? Zrinka Ujević, head of the European Commission Representation in Croatia, will discuss what has been done to achieve European goals and plans and what lies ahead in her lecture titled Europe living the Green Deal.
