Six predominantly European shipbuilding companies have so far expressed interest in purchasing the company 3. maj Rijeka 1905 and continuing shipbuilding activities in the Rijeka shipyard, confirmed on Tuesday the chairman of the Supervisory Board of 3. maj Juraj Šoljić.
According to Šoljić, offers that may arrive by mail will still be awaited, and after expressing interest, potential buyers will be allowed to review the documentation, which one of the companies has already done.
In the next two to three months, the implementation of the second phase is expected, for which it is necessary to prepare documents and binding conditions, which among other things includes the continuation of shipbuilding activities and investments, said Šoljić.
The public call for expressing interest in purchasing a 100% stake, i.e., the entire subsidiary company 3. maj Rijeka 1905, was published in mid-March, and the deadline for expressing interest was until April 15.
Potential investors were invited to express interest in purchasing a 100% stake, i.e., the entire subsidiary company 3. maj Rijeka 1905, and to express interest in submitting a non-binding letter of intent.
The share capital of the company 3. maj Rijeka 1905 is around 10 million euros, and among the conditions was the obligation of the investor to submit a statement that they are engaged in shipbuilding activities, i.e., that they intend to engage in shipbuilding activities in the area of the 3. maj shipyard.
The company 3. maj Rijeka 1905 was established to continue shipbuilding activities. According to the restructuring plan of 3. maj, the activity will be carried out in a new company without financial burdens from previous periods, which has been recapitalized with operational assets, and with the contracting of new jobs, workers will also be transferred to the new company.
According to the plan, the shipyard 3. maj will complete previously contracted jobs, among which is a self-unloading ship for the transport of bulk cargo (527), while new jobs, such as the construction of a hull for a polar cruiser, are contracted by the subsidiary company.
