Holcim Hrvatska Leads the Way to Decarbonization at the Spectacular Event ‘Journey to Net Zero’

Holcim Hrvatska, a leading company in the construction industry, thrilled its partners, suppliers, and customers at the exclusive event ‘Journey to Net Zero‘ held at the prestigious Lauba. This event marked a key step in the journey towards decarbonizing the industry and achieving the goals of the green transition.

Holcim Hrvatska, the event organizer, brought together key stakeholders from the construction industry to present projects aimed at achieving net zero CO2 emissions. Its commitment to this goal is confirmed by continuous efforts to reduce its carbon footprint, which has so far resulted in an impressive reduction of 42 percent.

One of the company’s most ambitious projects, KOdeCO net zero, which has been selected for co-financing by the EU Innovation Fund, will enable the production of carbon-neutral cement starting in 2028. Holcim Hrvatska is currently the only company in Croatia that has received funding from the Innovation Fund for a major project, amounting to 117 million euros for a project with a total value of 237 million euros.

– We are proud of our team that made the realization of this project possible. The project for capturing CO2 from production and its permanent storage represents a milestone in the construction industry. In the next five years, we will become the first company in Croatia, one of the few in Europe and the world, to produce carbon-neutral cement – said Dario Vrabec, CEO of Holcim Hrvatska.

Tihana Vranković, Marketing Director of Holcim Hrvatska, emphasized the importance of collaboration among all stakeholders in the decarbonization process.

– We must be focused on the future and act together to raise awareness not only in the industry but also among citizens about the importance of decarbonization. Our vision is based on the principles of green building, promoting a circular economy, and exploring new technological generations for a faster and better transition to sustainable business – said Vranković.
