In February, 3.8 percent fewer building permits were issued than last year

In Croatia, 974 building permits were issued in February this year, which is 3.8 percent less than in the same month last year, according to data from the Croatian Bureau of Statistics.

By types of buildings, 88.5 percent or 862 permits were issued for buildings in February, while 11.5 percent or 112 permits were issued for other structures, such as roads, railways, pipelines, bridges, sports fields, etc.

On an annual basis, the number of building permits for buildings is down by 2.4 percent, and for other structures by 13.2 percent. The permits issued in February have a projected value of works amounting to 556 million euros, which is 11.1 percent less than in the same period last year. Of this, 437 million relates to buildings, and 118 million euros to other structures.

By types of works, in February, 81.1 percent or 790 permits were issued for new construction, and 18.9 percent or 184 permits for reconstructions.

The issued building permits in February foresee the construction of 1,756 apartments, which is 3.4 percent more than in February 2023. According to DZS data, in the first two months of 2024, 1,855 building permits were issued in Croatia, which is a decrease of 4.8 percent compared to the same period last year.

The projected value of works amounts to 1.24 billion euros, which is 2.9 percent more than last year. Of this, 952 million euros pertains to buildings, and 289 million euros to other structures.

According to the issued building permits in the first two months, the construction of 3,325 apartments is projected, which is 7.4 percent more than in the same period in 2023.
