RC Zone in Samobor worth over 100 million euros is expected to be completed in a year

The Czech company RC Europe presented on Tuesday the logistics center ‘RC Zone Samobor Logistic Park’ in the Bobovica economic zone near Samobor, which is the largest single Czech investment in Croatia worth over 100 million euros.

The modern and largest logistics center in Croatia is being built on an area of 170 thousand square meters, of which 86 thousand square meters will be for rental space, storage, and production.

– We are very happy that this project is located in Samobor and that we have the support of the city, for which we especially thank Mayor Petra Škrobot. I have been coming to Croatia for 24 years and I really enjoy the country which I consider to have the greatest potential in Europe, with seas as clear as in the Maldives, but also many other beauties. My partner Jan Prokop and I have been working together for 19 years and we are active in Romania, Serbia, and the Czech Republic, in Prague, where our headquarters is located. We have been preparing this project for seven years and it took a lot of work to start its realization – said Miloslav Hartman, co-owner of the Czech company, at today’s ceremonial laying of the foundation stone at the construction site in Bobovica.

Explaining how important this investment is for the development of their business, Hartman said that as soon as they complete this project, they will start on the next one which is already in preparation. The park is expected to be built in a year.

We will continue to strive to support you throughout your journey because we know it is not easy – said the Mayor of Samobor, Petra Škrobot, emphasizing that assistance in land acquisition and resolving property-legal relations can further attract investments to Croatia.

The first three tenants

The Deputy Mayor of Zagreb County, Ervin Kolarec, also stated that this is the largest logistics center that will be built in the Zagreb County area.

He emphasized that Zagreb County has about 30 entrepreneurial zones in which more than seven million euros have been invested, and that it is important for county authorities to attract investors. He pointed out that investments generate new jobs for the residents of the county.

This year, Kolarec noted, Zagreb County has secured more than one million non-repayable euros for the economy, specifically for beginner entrepreneurs in manufacturing and non-manufacturing activities.

– I thank the representatives of RC Europe for the invitation to this very important event that marks the next step in one of the largest projects of Czech investors in Croatia. I would also like to thank the local authorities, especially Mayor Petra Škrobot, for this great support in a project that is significant not only for Samobor and Zagreb County but for all of Croatia – stated the Czech ambassador to Croatia, Milan Hovorka.

RC Zone already has its first three tenants who have decided to continue their future business within the Bobovica economic zone. The first agreement, they said from the Czech company, was made with the Croatian branch of the global logistics leader DB Schenker, which is present in over 150 countries with more than 2,000 offices and around 74,500 employees. This was followed by Logaritam, a company whose team of experienced professionals has been offering storage, warehousing, national distribution, and international shipping services to the market for about fifteen years. The third partner in line is Milšped, which has been providing modern logistics and transport services in 14 countries across 3 continents for 30 years. Although they already have a large warehouse in the neighboring Sveti Nedelja, the confirmation of this partnership will significantly expand existing capacities with new ones.

– In addition to operating in the domestic market for 15 years, we opened a company in Serbia ten years ago and four years ago in the Czech Republic. RC Europe is an interesting, friendly, and flexible partner that helps us find new warehouses, suppliers, and partners.

There is a chronic shortage of logistics centers in Croatia, and it is very important that when someone decides on such an investment, the location is good and the facility is of high quality. In Croatia, but also beyond, it is clear that we do not have a good strategy for this sector, or it is not fast enough for entrepreneurs. It is very important that there is persistence and will, as well as the existence of such entities that have decided that this market is prosperous and worth investing in, and we will all benefit from it – concluded Vedran Hirtz, the executive director of Logaritam.
