Housing Prices Increased by 12 Percent in 2023

Housing Prices in Croatia in 2023 were on average 11.9 percent higher compared to the previous year, according to data from the Croatian Bureau of Statistics (DZS) published on Thursday.

At the same time, prices of new residential properties increased on average by nine percent, while prices of existing residential properties were up by 12.4 percent, the DZS report shows.

Housing prices last year compared to 2022 increased on average by 11.7 percent in the City of Zagreb, by 11.3 percent on the Adriatic, while in other areas they were higher by 16.3 percent.

In the last quarter of last year, prices increased by 9.5 percent year-on-year.

In the fourth quarter of last year, housing prices in Croatia rose by 3.4 percent compared to the previous quarter, while year-on-year, that is, compared to the fourth quarter of 2022, they jumped by 9.5 percent, according to DZS data.

At the same time, new residential properties increased on average by 4.8 percent compared to the third quarter of 2023, and by 3.7 percent compared to the fourth quarter of 2022.

Prices of existing residential properties were up by 4.7 percent on a quarterly basis and by 10.4 percent year-on-year.

Housing prices in the fourth quarter of 2023 compared to the third quarter of the same year were on average 1.1 percent higher for the City of Zagreb, 6.3 percent for the Adriatic, and 2.8 percent for other areas.

Year-on-year, housing prices in Zagreb increased on average by 6.5 percent, on the Adriatic the growth was 11.3 percent, while in other areas, housing prices in the fourth quarter of last year compared to the same quarter in 2022 were on average 14.4 percent higher, according to DZS data.
