The Croatian IT company Span has signed a purchase agreement for a 30% business stake in the company Bonsai, with the transaction valued at 750 thousand euros. By acquiring the remaining 30%, Span has gained 100% ownership and announced its intention to merge Bonsai into Span.
At the same time, the intention to merge the associated company Ekobit, which is wholly owned by Span, has also been announced.
By integrating Bonsai and Ekobit into Span, Span’s offering of software and AI solutions will be consolidated. The goal is to achieve a unified market presence within the same company and under the single brand Span. Alongside cloud and cybersecurity, artificial intelligence is becoming one of Span’s key strategic directions, it is stated.
The targeted date for the merger to take effect is the end of the second quarter of 2024, after which the associated companies Bonsai and Ekobit will operate under the unified brand Span.
AI solutions have begun to be increasingly implemented in organizations, and the availability of generative artificial intelligence has further accelerated this process. In the business environment, options are increasingly being considered on how AI-based solutions can improve operations and enhance processes, according to Span.

With this merger, we will further strengthen Span’s AI offering within key segments of our business, and I expect that the development of this area will generate significant profits for us in the coming years, “said Span’s CEO Nikola Dujmović in a statement conveyed in the press release.
