Preliminary data from the State Bureau of Statistics show that in 2023, compared to 2022, apple and mandarin production increased, while plum, cherry, strawberry, pear, and other fruit production decreased.
Apple production last year increased by 39.2 percent compared to the previous year, reaching 66,510 tons. Mandarin production also increased by 3.5 percent, to 43,518 tons, and hazelnut production rose by 16.1 percent, to 3,004 tons.
A decline in production was recorded for plums, down 41.7 percent to 6,610 tons, cherries down 27 percent to 4,718 tons, peaches and nectarines down 24.4 percent to 2,984 tons, strawberries down 24.8 percent, etc.
Total grape production last year amounted to 94,683 tons, a decrease of 19.4 percent compared to the previous year. The yield per vine was one kilogram, a decrease of 23.1 percent.
Increased production of lettuce and cabbage; decreased production of tomatoes
Among vegetables, production growth was recorded for lettuce, up 14.1 percent to 7,395 tons, white and red cabbage, up 12.8 percent to 32,494 tons, cauliflower and broccoli, up 52.4 percent to 2,351 tons, melons, up 59.2 percent to 5,119 tons, onions and garlic, up 18.7 percent, etc.
At the same time, tomato production fell by 16.3 percent to 26,421 tons, leeks by 22.6 percent to 1,452 tons, cucumbers and gherkin by 36.7 percent to 8,167 tons, peppers by 6.9 percent to 9,731 tons, and carrots by 20.2 percent to 8,744 tons.
Olive production in 2023 decreased by 25.6 percent compared to the previous year, to 29,844 tons.
