Winners of this year’s ‘MIPRO Annual ICT Award’ for the most influential achievement in ICT

The Croatian Association MIPRO, as one of the largest ICT associations, after 46 years of monitoring the development of the profession, has initiated the ‘MIPRO Annual ICT Award’ as a means to identify and highlight particularly valuable contributions to the development of the profession in scientific, technological, and economic terms.

For the motivation of this highly valuable professional award, ‘Tesla’s Egg‘ was chosen as a symbol of life and creation. It represents symbolism and a historical story. Nikola Tesla discovered the rotating magnetic field in 1882 to demonstrate the principle of creating a physical rotating effect using alternating current. This invention led to the second industrial revolution and initiated the development of modern civilization.

Based on the nominations received, five awards were selected in 5 different categories. A legal entity or individual could be a candidate for the award, and nominations could be submitted by anyone without restrictions.

This year’s winners are:

– University Computing Center of the University of Zagreb – SRCE (category academia) for the establishment and application of distributed computing systems

– Algebra – “Portal for Advanced Labor Market Monitoring” (category projects)

– KONČAR – Digital (category economy) for a series of innovative products for the market

– Ivan Burazin (category individuals) for cloud development environment and business

– Nobel laureate Ferenc Krausz (category out of competition) for exceptional global results and contributions to world science

The awards will be presented at the ceremonial opening of the 47th International ICT Conference MIPRO 2024 on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at the Congress Hall of the Grand Hotel Adriatic in Opatija.
