Dogwifhat meme token photo sold as NFT for $4.3 million

The owner of Achi, the dog who is the mascot of the dogwifhat meme token, sold the iconic photo of the dog wearing a pink knitted hat as an NFT for $4.3 million.

The three-day auction began on the NFT platform Foundation on Friday, and the legendary pseudonymous crypto trader Gigantic Rebirth ultimately placed the winning bid of 1210.8 ether.

A similar move occurred on June 11, 2021, when Pleasrdao paid 1696.9 ether for a photo of Kabous, the original shiba inu who became the mascot of dogecoin, worth approximately $4 million.

Last week, a post on the Instagram account of the alleged owner stated that the NFT auction is being conducted in partnership with Fiesty DAO. The dog, which was reportedly previously named Chi-Chi, is now called Achi and lives in Korea. The alleged owner stated that he made the pink hat that the dog wears in the famous photo taken in 2018.

– Achi’s owners photographed him on November 17, 2018, in the adorable hat. It went viral, eventually becoming a meme and the mascot for the meme token – announced the partnership manager of Foundation on X.

Achi’s image became the mascot for a significant meme token late last year, after which it rose to a market capitalization of $3.2 billion, as dogwifhat became viral.

Dogwifhat is currently trading at a price of $2.55. The meme token on Solana has risen nearly 700 percent over the past month.

The purchase of the NFT comes just a few days after cryptocurrency owners raised over $650,000 in a campaign showcasing the mascot of the meme token at the Sphere concert hall in Las Vegas.
