At the end of this February, accounts of 211 thousand Croatian citizens were blocked, with a total principal debt of 2.7 billion euros, as well as 14 thousand business entities, whose principal debt amounted to 735.8 million euros, according to data from the Financial Agency (Fina) published on Tuesday.
Namely, at the end of February, the register of payment order bases recorded 211,137 consumers, which is 0.4 percent less than in the previous month, and seven percent less than a year ago.
The principal of their debt amounted to 2.71 billion euros, which is 0.3 percent more compared to January and 14.7 percent more compared to February 2023. When the principal of 2.7 billion euros is added to the debt from interest amounting to 1.03 billion euros, the total debt of citizens with blocked accounts at the end of February amounted to 3.74 billion euros.
The largest part of the debt, amounting to 0.67 billion euros (excluding interest), related to consumer debt to banks as creditors, while the total debt to all financial institutions amounted to 0.77 billion euros, Fina states.
Due to unpaid payment bases, at the end of February, the register of payment order bases also recorded 14,025 business entities, which is 296 business entities or 2.2 percent more compared to January and 70 business entities or 0.5 percent less compared to February 2023.
The principal of their debt amounted to 735.8 million euros, which is 3.3 million euros or 0.5 percent less than in January and 236.6 million euros or 47.4 percent more than in February 2023. The debt from interest amounted to 221.3 million euros, so the total debt of business entities at the end of February amounted to 957.05 million euros.
