The Ministry of Finance paid out on Friday 67.5 million euros in due interest on the first people’s bond, issued on March 7 last year, of which 48.7 million euros went to citizens, while the remainder went to institutional investors. Finance Minister Marko Primorac announced that such issuances will continue in the future.
The Ministry, through the Central Clearing Depository (SKDD), paid interest to all investors who held that bond in their securities account at SKDD at the end of the day on March 7, 2024.
Recall that in March 2023, the Ministry of Finance successfully realized the inaugural issuance of bonds on the domestic market, maturing in 2025, in a nominal amount of 1.85 billion euros, which was intended for both institutional investors and individuals. This bond issuance was realized at a price of 100 percent and an annual interest rate of 3.65 percent, and since March 8 last year, it has been listed on the Zagreb Stock Exchange.
– This bond issuance represents the largest investment by individuals in a single security issued through a public offering in the history of the Croatian capital market – said Finance Minister Marko Primorac on this occasion, reminding that the interest was high, with 45,000 citizens subscribing to and paying for the bonds, and the large response is a message of high trust from citizens in the securities issued by the state.
– Such issuances will continue in the future – he announced.
Taking into account the issuance of treasury bills in November 2023, approximately 27,000 citizens have invested money in securities on the Croatian financial market for the first time through the offering of state securities, the ministry emphasized.
