This year’s Valentine’s Day confirmed that Croatians have not forgotten about romance, but also that the ‘holiday of love’ cannot pass without the obligatory red rose. Data from the Wolt platform Wolt Croatia reveals that revenue in Croatian florists on Valentine’s Day literally soared – increasing by as much as five thousand percent compared to any other ‘ordinary’ Wednesday of the year.
However, the baskets of romantic souls did not contain only flowers. On Valentine’s Day, sex shops on the Wolt platform were also busy, with double the number of products ordered compared to last year. Therefore, Croatians still have a healthy appetite when it comes to experimenting in the bedroom, with the best-selling item not intended for women, but for men. It is a delay spray for orgasm that was a welcome guest in domestic orders, just like lubricant and (again) a bondage rope. The list of most sought-after items also included various vibrators, anal plugs, and some humorous items, such as lollipops in provocative shapes.
These consumer habits for Valentine’s Day reveal two very important trends. First, Croatians certainly love romance and are not afraid to experiment with various love aids. Second, ordering via the Wolt platform is no longer limited to ready-made food, but has expanded to almost all aspects of retail, from groceries and flowers to adult toys. The retail segment of Wolt grew by two hundred percent this Valentine’s Day compared to the same period last year, confirming the thesis that Croatians increasingly prefer shopping via their mobile screens.
