Last year, 11,564 building permits were issued in Croatia, which is 3.6 percent more than the previous year, while only in December 2023, 987 building permits were issued, representing a decrease of 16.4 percent compared to December 2022, according to data from the Croatian Bureau of Statistics.
Of the mentioned 11,564 building permits issued last year, 9,113 were for new construction, and 2,451 for reconstructions. Likewise, 10,025 of the issued building permits were for buildings, and 1,539 for other constructions.
The projected value of the works amounted to slightly more than seven billion euros, which is about 21 percent more than the previous year when the projected value of the works was 5.76 billion euros. The projected value of the works for buildings was 5.16 billion euros, and for other constructions, it was 1.85 billion euros. According to the issued building permits during 2023, the construction of 18,803 apartments is projected, which is one percent less than in 2022.
Regarding the last month of last year, according to the types of buildings, 89.3 percent or 881 permits in December last year were issued for buildings, and 10.7 percent or 106 permits for other constructions, such as roads, railways, pipelines, bridges, sports fields, etc.
On an annual basis, the number of building permits for buildings decreased by 13.5 percent, and for other constructions by 34.2 percent.
The permits issued in December 2023 have a projected value of works amounting to 754.22 million euros, of which 429.3 million is for buildings, and 324.8 million euros for other constructions.
According to the types of works, in December last year, 76.4 percent of permits or 754 were issued for new construction, and 23.6 percent or 233 for reconstructions.
According to the issued building permits in December 2023, the construction of 1,853 apartments is projected, which is 24.5 percent less than in December 2022.
