If you follow the news, you have certainly noticed that there are at least three major disasters looming over us these days. From the sky, we are struck by ‘Zeus’. Allegedly, the worst hail is hitting southern Spain and Italy. But it would not be Croatian if they did not at least push themselves into a section of that heavenly strike. From the northeast, Vladimir Putin is preparing for a terrestrial strike along the entire eastern border of NATO. Thus, General Micael Bydén, the head of the Swedish Armed Forces, in anticipation of full NATO membership, warned Swedes to mentally prepare for a possible war because ‘the Russian war against Ukraine is just one step, but not the end of the story’.
Similar warnings have been sent by the Swedish Minister of Defense, as well as high civilian and military officials of NATO, government and military officials from the UK, Germany, Poland, the Netherlands… At the same time, on the southeastern approach to Europe, in the Middle East, the West has been attacking various, mostly pro-Iranian Islamist groups and militias from land, sea, and air in recent months. And after the attack on the American base in Jordan, which killed three American soldiers, the media are trying to resolve the dilemma: will the conflict between Iran and the USA start the third world war? Or has it already begun? So are we really on the brink of apocalyptic strikes of major natural and war disasters? Or are we just under the influence of major promotional operations?
Returning to the Harsh Past
‘Zeus’ is the easiest to resolve. It seems to have lost strength and persuasiveness as it traveled over the Mediterranean to southern Europe…. That announced heat wave that is supposedly going to scorch us (at minus five degrees in the morning), and finish off the survivors with beautiful sunny days, can hardly impress anyone anymore. After all, the era of ultra-green globalism, which protected the universe from man and cows, is coming to an end – after proving to be geopolitically and economically unsustainable. From an imagined future, we return to a grounded and harsh past in which history is written by wars.

But are we really on the brink of war with Russia? General Valdemaras Rupšys, the chief commander of the Lithuanian army, has put a series of dramatic warnings from the highest NATO addresses and member states into realistic frameworks. Somewhat annoyed that NATO allies far from the border with Russia are raising war tensions, the head of the Lithuanian army stated that Russian forces ‘are not an acute threat for now‘, but also warned: ‘If Russia is not stopped in Ukraine, the Baltic states could be next in line.’ Adding to this is the fact that NATO’s largest military exercise since the end of the Cold War,’Steadfast Defender 2024′, has just begun, which will last until May and aims to demonstrate transatlantic unity in defending Europe (from Russia), providing a framework for interpreting dramatic warnings about the Russian war threat. They are short-term psychological support for NATO’s military exercise, and in the long term, they prepare Europe for a new, strengthened defense policy towards Russia that involves strengthening national armies and a new momentum for the military industry.
