An online quiz aimed at improving the financial literacy of students from 5th to 8th grade will take place on Thursday, February 29, and teams composed of three students and a teacher-mentor can register until Friday, February 23, 2024.
The twenty most successful teams will win financial literacy workshops for their classes, while the top three teams will also win smart boards or other educational digital tools, depending on the needs of the school, as well as other valuable prizes.
The competition is organized for the second consecutive year by the Štedopis Institute for Financial Education with a donation from Addiko Bank.
Last year’s competition involved more than 2,600 students, 869 teams from 295 schools across Croatia, and the winning team was a three-member team from OŠ Ivanja Reka: Tibor Balić, Patrick Ivezić, and Marko Pavelić. This year, more than a hundred teams have already registered for the competition.
– The strong response from elementary schools to the competition has shown us that there is indeed interest in financial education and that both teachers and students recognize the importance of financial literacy. All research shows that early education on financial management can reduce the risk of financial problems and stress related to finances later in life. We invite teachers to register their students and be part of positive changes in education – said Marina Ralašić, president of the Štedopis association.
