At the end of December 2023, there were blocked accounts of 210.8 thousand citizens in Croatia, with a total principal debt of €2.71 billion, as well as 13.8 thousand business entities, whose principal debt amounted to €578.1 million, according to data from the Financial Agency (Fina) published on Wednesday.
At the end of December last year, due to unfulfilled payment bases, 210,781 consumers were recorded in the payment order registry, which is 1.8% less than in the previous month and 7.8% less than a year ago.
Their principal debt amounted to €2.71 billion, which is 1% less compared to November 2023, but also 13.1% more compared to December 2022.
When the principal of €2.71 billion is added to the debt based on interest of €958.65 million, the total debt of citizens with blocked accounts at the end of October amounted to €3.7 billion.
The largest part of the debt, amounting to €0.66 billion (excluding interest), related to consumer debt to banks as creditors, while the total debt to all financial institutions amounted to €0.76 billion.
Due to unfulfilled payment bases, at the end of December 2023, 13,846 business entities were recorded in the payment order registry, which is 652 business entities or 4.5% less compared to November 2023 and 391 business entities or 2.7% less compared to December 2022.
