BAT’s factory in Kanfanar has received the AWS certification according to the international standard of the Alliance for Water Stewardship. The factory in Kanfanar has thus become the third production facility in Croatia to hold the prestigious AWS Core certification, one of which is Hrvatski duhani, which also operates within the BAT group.
At BAT, sustainability is one of the core values of the entire business, and ambitious goals related to water management have been set at the group level. All water discharged by the factory in Kanfanar is recycled and reused, with as much as 50 percent of the total water used coming from recycling. The efforts the factory invests in sustainable operations have been recognized by international standards, and the global goal of AWS is good management, sustainable water balance, good water quality, as well as the availability of safe drinking water and the preservation of important water-related areas.
– BAT is making significant efforts towards sustainable operations on a global level, and we are extremely proud that the factory in Kanfanar has managed to achieve the goals required for the AWS certification, confirming that we are truly moving together towards the goal of achieving A Better Tomorrow (A Better TomorrowTM). We continuously work on reducing the negative impact of our operations on the environment and increasing the positive impact on society. This is confirmed by the fact that we have successfully reduced the total water consumption from the water supply system by as much as 35 percent compared to 2017 at the factory in Kanfanar – said Pavel Vereshak, Operations Director, BAT Adria.
