Of the twenty thousand Ukrainians living in Croatia since the beginning of the Russian invasion of that country early last year, about 460 have found direct employment with the help of the association Svoja, which today held one of a series of conferences in Zagreb to present its activities. The goal is to help Ukrainian citizens integrate as best as possible into Croatian society, and in addition to finding jobs, to decide on their own entrepreneurial projects. Examples of good practices were also presented by Ukrainian entrepreneurs who have developed their businesses in Croatia.
– The situation regarding the employment of Ukrainian citizens in Croatia has significantly improved in the last year, especially in the last six months, as our surveys have shown, considering that people have had time to learn the language and integrate into society. Our association has helped many of them, in which we had great support from Croatian institutions as well as companies we collaborate with – said Natalya Hryshenko, director of Svoja. This includes both Ukrainian and Croatian companies, 46 of them, including Studenac, Mlinar, Pan-Pek, Ledo, Žitoproizvod Karlovac, Prima, hotels, and others.
Ukrainian citizens in Croatia are employed in various sectors and at different positions, from managerial to service roles, and there are more and more of those who are venturing to start their own businesses. Among them is Yuriy Polischuk, CEO of Tesla Distribution from Rijeka, which deals with solar panels, who shared his experiences in starting a business with the attendees at the conference.
