The Accused in the Uljanik Case Do Not Feel Guilty

The trial in the Uljanik case began on Monday at the Rijeka County Court, and all defendants stated that they do not feel guilty and do not acknowledge the claims for damages made by the Uljanik shipyard in bankruptcy and the 3. Maj shipyard.

In the Uljanik case, 13 defendants, mostly former leaders of the company, are accused of economic crime that caused damage of approximately 900 million kuna (119 million euros).

The indictment includes the first defendant, former member of the management board of the Pula shipyard Uljanik, Marinko Brgić, and another 11 former leaders of Uljanik and the Rijeka shipyard 3. Maj. The thirteenth defendant is the company Uljanik plovidba from Pula, which later changed its name to Alpha Adriatic.

According to the indictment, alongside the first defendant Brgić, the second defendant is the former director of Uljanik plovidba, Dragutin Pavletić, the third defendant is the former member of the management board of Uljanik, Veljko Grbac, and the fourth defendant is the former president of the management board of the Uljanik group, Giani Rossanda.

Following are the former president of the management board of the Uljanik group, Anton Brajković, former director of Uljanik Shipyard, Silvan Kranjc, former directors of 3. Maj, Zdravko Pliško and Maksimilijan Percan, then director of Uljanik Pomorstva for services, Elvis Pahljina, director of Uljanik Shipmanagement, Darko Šorc, former director of 3. Maj, Domagoj Klarić, and former director of Uljanik Shipyard, Eduard Milovan.

The indictment was raised back in 2020, and the indictment council of the County Court in Rijeka confirmed it last February. The extensive file has more than 15,000 pages, and according to the court’s decision, a verdict should be reached by mid-2025.
