Hrvatski Telekom Wins ‘European Excellence Awards 2023’ for Best European Socially Responsible Campaign

The campaign ‘How are you?’ by Hrvatski Telekom, which addresses mental health issues, has been declared the best socially responsible campaign in all of Europe at the ‘European Excellence Awards 2023’. This is a prestigious recognition for outstanding achievements in the communications industry, and Hrvatski Telekom is the only Croatian company to have won the ‘European Excellence Awards 2023’ for ‘How are you?’, while the ‘Proud of HT’ program is one of the top five in the internal communications category.

The European Excellence Awards recognizes the best campaigns each year, evaluating strategy, creativity, societal impact, innovation, campaign implementation, as well as results and effectiveness. This year’s expert jury consisted of 40 prominent PR professionals from the corporate and agency world.

The ‘How are you?’ campaign is part of last year’s Christmas initiative by Hrvatski Telekom, aimed at raising awareness about the importance of communication with loved ones and caring for mental health. The campaign’s name was chosen to draw attention to the fact that this question has unfortunately become just a casual greeting rather than a genuine expression of interest in others.

‘How are you?’ aims to encourage sincere conversations and support during the holiday season, when family gatherings are in full swing, but also when feelings of loneliness can deepen. HT has recognized the importance of addressing mental health issues and is proud of its contribution to the community through this original and important campaign.

– As a company and brand that takes a stance on important social issues, we want to help and consider it our responsibility to contribute and speak out on pressing social topics such as mental health. Unfortunately, there are still many examples in our society and environment where individuals hesitate to openly discuss their own mental health, which leads to them being unwilling to share problems even with their close ones, automatically limiting the possibility of timely action and providing much-needed help. Therefore, it is crucial to eliminate the stigma that seeking help is a sign of weakness. When was the last time you asked an important person in your life how they are? Now is the right time. This may be the most important thing you do today – stated Igor Vukasović, Director of Corporate Communications at Hrvatski Telekom.
