After being dismissed yesterday by Prime Minister Andrej Plenković from the position of Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Davor Filipović addressed the public today at a press conference.

– When I entered the political arena, I knew it wouldn’t be easy, however, above all, I am proud to have had the opportunity to serve my country as a member of the government. Croatia is growing and developing, the Croatian economy is growing the fastest in the EU despite the naysayers. Croatia is recording record foreign direct investments, which is very important. I must emphasize that I am proud to have participated in all these projects, and all of this affects the standard of our citizens and their security – said the former minister.

He added that it was his duty not to be a burden to either the Croatian government or the HDZ, nor to the Croatian state.

As for the messages, I knew nothing about it, but I take political responsibility, he said.

My advisor is one of the wealthiest in our homeland, that he gets involved in such petty matters surprises me greatly. But my political responsibility is, and no individual is more important than the state. It was an honor for me to serve the Croatian government and the Croatian state and all our fellow citizens. I want to thank all my colleagues, the government, all employees, and all journalists for their cooperation and wish you all the best in your future work – he concluded.

To journalists’ questions, he mostly responded with ‘I don’t know’ and ‘I knew nothing’.

He added that he had been working ‘honorably and honestly for the benefit of the Croatian people’ and that he plans to return to university.

Let us recall, Prime Minister Andrej Plenković dismissed Filipović yesterday, and Jurica Lovrinčević thus ceased to be a special advisor in Filipović’s cabinet.
