SELECTIO: How to Retain Qualified Professionals in Croatia?

From the first licensed employment agency to the most sought-after place for all HR services in Croatia – SELECTIO Group today connects professionals from all over Croatia with some of the most successful organizations in the region, and in recent years has increasingly invested in programs for the development of organizations and managers.

In twenty years of operation, SELECTIO has developed more than fifty projects that positively impact the labor market development and represents Croatia to potential investors, managing all phases of foreign companies entering the Croatian market. From this year, as a preferred partner of Jabil, it employs over 1,500 workers in Osijek, helping to retain the workforce in Slavonia.

– Let’s set aside the well-known challenges in the search for seasonal workers; in Croatia, we are also facing a shortage of qualified professionals due to the increasing brain drain. On one hand, we have employers in Croatia who must make additional efforts to engage and develop talented workers and create an attractive and healthy work environment, and on the other hand, workers must know how to recognize quality employers for whom it is worth staying in Croatia – emphasizes Aleksandar Zemunić, director of SELECTIO Group.

To empower employers in these challenges, experts from SELECTIO Group have educated over 15,000 leaders who develop engaged and motivated teams in a large number of companies in Croatia, applying modern leadership skills. Additionally, SELECTIO has launched four certificates awarded to companies that make significant efforts to build increasingly quality work environments.

Four Certificates for Companies to Build Quality Work Environments

Employer Partner: The most recognized certificate by which SELECTIO has been recognizing companies with the highest quality in human resource management for eighteen years is called Employer Partner. Through this project, more than 20,000 evaluations of HR systems have been conducted so far, and through the digitalization of the evaluation process, several new indicators have been introduced that allow each organization to compare itself with other companies in the same industry. Every year, about a hundred successful organizations from ten markets apply for this prestigious certificate, and among the certificate holders are some of the most successful global organizations, which are increasing every year. The goal of the project is, together with the certificate holders, to continuously raise the quality of human resource management and initiate positive changes in an increasing number of work environments.

Above and Beyond: The Above and Beyond certificate represents the top 10% of employer partners, so only those companies that have already proven the best quality of human resource management can apply for this title. The categories in which the most prestigious certificate in the HR world is awarded are: Impact, Satisfaction, Inclusion, Innovation, and Future.

Future Resilience: Future Resilience confirms the employer’s concern for employee well-being. The certificate is awarded to any company that participates in the Future Resilience program, which systematically builds employees’ mental health through workshops, education, and one-on-one counseling, teaching them how to develop greater resilience to stress and challenges in both business and private environments. This year, as many as 800 employees are going through the program.

Equal Pay Champion: From the very beginning, SELECTIO has played an active role in promoting gender equality in business. The most recognized is the SELECTIO Women Index, which annually provides the latest statistics on women in leadership positions, and this year’s novelty is the Equal Pay Champion – the first certificate to be awarded to companies that make the greatest efforts to reduce the pay gap. This certificate represents a key step towards achieving equal pay in workplaces across Croatia, and all companies, regardless of size and type of activity, can apply for it. It is expected that this initial step in many companies will encourage greater progress in achieving a more attractive and equitable business environment.
