The Croatian Pension Insurance Institute (HZMO) had 1,658,116 insured persons at the end of November 2023, which is an increase of 41,110 or 2.5 percent compared to the same month last year, according to the first data published by the institute on Thursday.
The number of insured persons at the end of this November was 74,985 or 4.7 percent higher compared to November 30, 2021, while compared to the end of November 2020, the number of insured persons jumped by 112,550 or 7.3 percent, as highlighted in the announcement on HZMO’s website.
The number of insured persons is an indicator of the level of employment, and according to HZMO’s data, the largest number of insured persons by activity at the end of November 2023 was recorded in the manufacturing industry, 252,447, wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, 246,180, construction, 141,135, and education, 126,639.
Compared to the same period last year, the largest increase in the number of insured persons was recorded in construction, 8,775, in professional, scientific and technical activities, 7,084, in accommodation and food service activities, that is, hospitality and tourism, by 5,327, and in administrative and support service activities, 4,247.
At the same time, at the end of November this year, professional, scientific and technical activities counted 110,739 insured persons, hospitality and tourism 102,531, and administrative and support service activities 58,933.
If the figures are compared to those from two years ago, that is, from November 2021, there are now 12,823 more insured persons in construction. Positive growth is also recorded in professional, scientific and technical activities, by 12,060, as well as in hospitality and tourism, by 11,641 insured persons, as stated in HZMO’s announcement.
