Mplus Grupa has made a significant leap in the development of its Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) business vertical by signing an investment agreement worth 60 million euros with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) – subject to regulatory approvals from the relevant authorities.

By signing the agreement, the EBRD will acquire a 28.3 percent stake in the company M Plus Croatia d.o.o. after all formal preconditions are met. The company M Plus Croatia is part of the Mplus Group and consolidates companies operating in the Group’s BPO business vertical. After the investment, Mplus Group, which currently holds a 68.7 percent stake, will remain the majority shareholder with a 59.7 percent stake, while MidEuropa will continue to support the business as a minority investor.

This investment will also be the largest investment by the EBRD in the equity structure of a company in the technology services sector in Southeast Europe and one of the larger investments in Croatia.

With the invested funds, Mplus Group will continue to expand its business and consolidate its strategic position in the international BPO market, primarily through acquisitions. The Group will continue to enhance the efficiency of business processes and create new jobs in the region and beyond.

– The increase in demand for our services has resulted in the need for additional investments in the development of the BPO business. The partnership with the EBRD as a leader in financing economically inclusive projects is a strategic and value-driven choice, not just a commercial one. This partnership will enable us to realize our ambitious strategy for further growth, primarily through acquisitions. We view this new investment as proof of the significant progress we have made in recent years. I believe that our partnership with the EBRD and continued support from MidEuropa will positively reflect in all the countries where we have BPO operations and where we are active – said Darko Horvat, CEO of Mplus Group (Meritus ulaganja d.d.).

The EBRD’s investment in Mplus Croatia, which consolidates the Group’s BPO segment, confirms the significant value created within this business vertical over the past four years since the initial public offering (IPO) in 2019. This investment positions Mplus as a credible and long-term partner for leading domestic and international investors.

– We are excited to invest in an innovative company like Mplus, focused on regional growth. Through this investment, we reaffirm our commitment to fostering innovation and the development of the Croatian economy, including supporting domestic companies in their further expansion into foreign markets! Mplus provides services in 57 markets worldwide and is one of the leading companies in the business process outsourcing segment – stated Mark Davis, EBRD Regional Director for Central Europe.

Just four years after the IPO, Mplus Group operates as a European leader in BPO through dynamic industries of customer experience management and information technology. Additionally, the Group has successfully added two new business verticals under the parent company Meritus Ulaganja d.d.: the HR vertical Workplace, through employment and human resource management services, and the eCommerce vertical Eplus Ventures, which brings together platforms from the beauty, healthcare, and travel segments.
