KING ICT, Smart Energy and FER Develop Innovative Solution for Managing Critical Infrastructure

Companies KING ICT and Smart Energy, in collaboration with the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing at the University of Zagreb, have developed an innovative software solution for centralized monitoring and management of critical infrastructure in commercial and residential buildings. The project was realized over three years, and its implementation has created the technological prerequisites that will enable the integration of various electrical systems and mechanical systems for energy and environmental monitoring into a unified whole.

Significant Assistance to Buildings

– Critical infrastructure systems include heating, cooling, ventilation, lighting, power supply, fire protection systems, fire alarm systems, and technical security systems. These systems are generally installed as separate systems in buildings, making their management quite complex as each must be managed separately, without the possibility of mutual communication and interaction. Since they belong to the same building, they should form a unified whole for the technical supervision of electrical installations, mechanical and security installations in the building – explained Dražen Pavlić, Head of Operations for Research, Development, and Innovation at KING ICT. The solution also integrates measurements of environmental conditions and records of the number of people in temperature zones.

Useful Experiences and Collaborations

– The project was conducted in collaboration with the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing from Zagreb, and we are particularly pleased with the international collaboration with experts in automation and energy with scientific interests in control engineering, machine learning, and power electronics. In this project, along with a high degree of achieving expected results, we have gained many useful experiences that we will be able to apply in future projects. The established collaboration with representatives of the academic community and international partners will certainly be the foundation for the future development of KING ICT’s business and related companies – emphasized Pavlić.
