Environmental Protection Fund: New Incentives for Installing Photovoltaic Power Plants on Homes

The Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund has announced a new public call for co-financing photovoltaic power plants up to 50 percent of the investment costs for citizens who installed a photovoltaic power plant in their households in 2023 or will do so by the end of the year.

In the first wave, 12,425,000 euros will be available, and additional funds will be secured as needed since the money for this purpose is provided by the Law on the Implementation of the Council Regulation on Emergency Intervention to Address High Energy Prices, they emphasized in a statement.

The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Davor Filipović stated that the announced call, along with the activation of geothermal potentials and the utilization of funds from the Modernization Fund, is another step towards producing more energy for domestic needs from renewable sources in Croatia.

The Minister says that the Fund has several areas of action, and one of the key areas is to promote and encourage the concept of using renewable sources, which is aimed at decarbonization and benefits both citizens and the entire Croatian society.

The Director of the Fund, Luka Balen, stated that 2023 is a record year in terms of incentives for the use of renewable energy sources.

– In addition to this public call for photovoltaic power plants, we are expecting an investment expansion worth 120 million euros for the energy renovation of family houses – he stated.

The Fund says that the use of solar energy, along with lower overhead costs, will also contribute to reducing harmful gas emissions into the environment.

In the previous public call, 3,250 households received nearly 20 million euros in incentives for their green investments, they say in the Fund, noting that both citizens and the industry, which also received co-financing for renewable energy sources this year, are benefiting.

The intention of the Law on the Implementation of the Council Regulation on Emergency Intervention is, they explain in the Fund, to invest the charged fee from the achieved extra profit into photovoltaic power plants in households, so that citizens can produce electricity to the greatest extent possible and become energy independent.
