The entire situation regarding the poisoning with mineral water is very confusing, not only for the public but also for manufacturers of non-alcoholic beverages, such as Svjetalan Stanić, CEO of Stanić Group.
– It is difficult for us, as manufacturers, to understand what exactly happened, considering that, as far as we understand, there are only a few isolated cases so far – said Stanić for Lider and added that the only thing he understands in this whole story is how the injury described in the media statements occurred.
Stanić explains that all returnable glass bottles that are returned to the filling plants must first undergo disinfection with chemicals that ‘kill bacteria’. After that, the bottles must be thoroughly rinsed and, in his opinion, this is probably where the oversight occurred. That chemistry, he says, was obviously not rinsed well.
– However, what casts doubt on the whole story, at least on the part that has been communicated to the public, is the fact that on the so-called ‘chargers’ thousands and thousands of bottles are disinfected or rinsed at one moment. We are talking about batches of 100 thousand to 200 thousand bottles. According to that logic, the problem would not be with two to three bottles, but with the entire series that was simultaneously being washed and filled – said Stanić, for whom this whole story is a mystery as it has not yet been determined or communicated what happened to the remaining bottles from the same filling and where they ended up.
