Counting Trailers (S04E02): 1,637 Trailers Have Left Končar’s Factories for Foreign Markets This Year

Lider’s initiative ‘Counting Trailers’ has entered its fourth season. While some count tourists, we count trailers loaded with goods for export, which are significantly more important for the national economy than the export of services, a fact that is largely overlooked in public discourse.

Following exceptional results in 2022, the Končar Group has continued to achieve growth this year with a record number of newly contracted projects. Newly contracted projects in the first half of 2023 amounted to €748.1 million, more than double the contracted projects in the same period last year.

The share of exports in total sales revenue continues to follow a positive growth trend, amounting to 67 percent in the first half of the year. Growth has been achieved in the most significant market of the European Union, which accounts for 75 percent of exports, as well as in all other markets. With the acquisition of Dalekovod last year, Končar secured its status as the largest Croatian exporter.

– The positive trend of newly contracted projects continues to be recorded in the business segment of electricity transmission and distribution, while the green transition, which is in full swing in European Union countries, has resulted in even greater demand for transformers. This year alone, 1,637 trailers have left two of Končar’s transformer factories. This involves the delivery of distribution, medium power, special, and measuring transformers. Transformers from Končar have been delivered to customers worldwide, primarily to the markets of Germany, Sweden, Austria, Spain, Finland, the USA, Hungary, Lithuania, and the Netherlands – stated representatives of the Končar Group.

From Končar – Measuring Transformers, it is highlighted that their contract volume for the first six months of this year, compared to the same period last year, has increased by 41 percent, while Distribution and Special Transformers have recorded a growth of as much as 122 percent. As the KONČAR Group’s contract book grows, for 2025, for which new contracts worth a total of €139 million have already been secured by the first half of this year, it is expected that an even larger number of trailers will leave Končar’s factories in the coming years.
