HEP announced competitions for the award of 99 scholarships to high school students and students

The Croatian Electric Company has announced a Competition for the award of scholarships to regular high school students and a Competition for the award of scholarships to regular students, under which a total of 99 scholarships will be awarded for the school and academic year 2023/2024 – 40 for students and 59 for high school students.

Students of technical sciences (fields of electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical energy) and students of secondary vocational (technical) schools can apply for the competitions open until October 24, 2023. In addition to the increase in the net amount of scholarships, this year the competitions also include students in pre-final years of high school, as well as third-year undergraduate students. The monthly net amount of the scholarship for the first and second year of graduate studies is thus 330 euros, and 270 euros for third-year undergraduate students. For regular students in pre-final years of high school, the monthly net amount of the scholarship is 150 euros, and 200 euros for students in final years.

The contract provides scholarship holders with financial support during their studies or education and employment in the HEP group as interns for an indefinite period after obtaining their diploma or completing their secondary education, with the obligation to remain employed for twice the duration of the time for which they received the scholarship in the company that sponsored them – HEP Distribution System Operator, HEP Gas, or HEP Production. The payment of the scholarship begins from the date of signing the scholarship agreement and lasts until the completion of secondary education/studies. By planned scholarships for students and pupils, qualified personnel will be ensured in positions crucial for the functioning of the electricity system and energy infrastructure.

Collaboration with educational institutions

Managing the key national energy infrastructure and implementing the renewable development scenario of HEP are sources of challenging work tasks that require teamwork and interdisciplinary work. Therefore, HEP aims to attract and train new generations of educated and motivated professionals, young people who will be enabled to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to work in the dynamic and competitive energy sector. Scholarship programs for students and pupils, future HEP employees, are just one of the activities that will contribute to this.

In addition to scholarship programs for students and pupils, where in the last decade alone it has supported more than a hundred regular students, primarily in technical fields, HEP promotes cooperation between the economy and education through donation programs and projects in partnership with educational institutions. Since 1995, nearly 900 students from primary and secondary schools have received the HEP award I Have a Wire! for winners of national competitions in mathematics, physics, and electrical engineering. In an effort to ensure the best possible conditions for IT education in primary schools, HEP launched the national action For Our Little Geniuses in 2015, in which it has so far donated 650 new computers for students in 198 primary schools across Croatia.
